Well, to start, my name is Steve Jasper. I'm 34 years old, and live in the righteous Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. DFW is in North Texas, and it includes many telecom companies (the "Silicon Prairie"), and is headquarters to big companies such as Sprint and American Airlines.
Like many Americans, I have changed residence numerous times, in rhythm with different phases of life. These phases change as a result of going to a new school or taking a new job. I grew up mostly in suburban Washington, D.C., and have also lived in suburban Houston, Chicago, Southern Indiana, Southern New Hampshire, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. This migration was not random continental drift; rather, each move was for a specific reason (NOT the FBI's witness protection program), and each place has been uniquely interesting. I hope to get some more photos up to further illustrate this.

Okay, in fact, I do not bend glass tubes into cool shapes and fill them with neon and other trace gases for a living, so that's not it. I tried glassblowing a few times, and let's just say that if you would like some amorphic glass lumps, I'm your guy. However, if you're interested in one of those Galileo barometers that uses colored water-filled spheres, you'd better visit the Discovery store at your local mall.
The story is that I'm a chemist, and wanted my address to be an element. Further, "neon" is far easier to type than "dysprosium", and that will save 185 minutes over the course of my lifetime in filling out forms online.
Incidentally, there is an interesting connection between the magic 8 ball, the logo in the navigation bar, and my graduate thesis work. Bonus points if you can tell me what it is!
Oh, and for those who have asked, my choice is NOT due in any way to ownership of a Neon: Ack!
Some of my favorite links
Poasters Computer Forums are open user-to-user message boards to discuss problems, solutions, reviews, and opinions related to personal computers. Poasters is managed by a friendly group of folks who volunteer their time. It is frequented by some very helpful and technically adept people, and has lots of links to computing help resources. I am honored to share administration duties at Poasters, so drop by and "poast" your computer questions, or just chat with us.

I enjoy science fiction novels and television such as Babylon 5. Have a look at The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5
I enjoy short non sequitur sound bites from speeches, movies, tv, and radio for inclusion in informal email attachments and computer system events. Have a look at The Daily .WAV for a good source of sounds.
See my gourmet cooking page with many delicious recipes and helpful cooking tips.
I enjoy listening to classical orchestral music, and whatever else strikes my ears as pleasing and original, regardless of genre. This generally does not include overly bland and repetitive pop or dance music; nor rap, which I consider to be more like poetry than music. I like The Beatles, Billy Joel, Genesis, and a lot of other stuff.
See my viola page for more detail on my experiences as an orchestra player.
